Capability Building

VisAble provides a twin-track response to violence against disabled people and Adults at Risk. This involves making mainstream prevention and response initiatives, training, and services more accessible and inclusive, as well as providing targeted specialist services addressing the specific needs of disabled people and Adults at Risk.

VisAble's services include:

  • Supporting organisations to develop and implement disability-responsive family violence and sexual violence (FVSV) policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Providing training, resources, and advice to organisations to ensure their services are accessible and responsive to disabled people experiencing violence.

  • Offering advice and connecting individuals with appropriate safeguarding/whakahaumarutia services, especially for disabled people, their families, and whānau.

  • Supporting a culturally safe response.

  • Identifying various forms of violence and safeguarding barriers, concerns and risks.
