VisAble Training Modules

This suite of modules are designed for individuals and organisations working with, or who come into contact with, tāngata and whānau whaikaha Māori, D/Deaf, disabled people, Adults at Risk and families who are impacted by violence and abuse.

The Project Team, worked with the Disability Community Advisory Group, the six agencies across the Waitematā, (who engaged in the initiative to make their services more inclusive and accessible) and the wider disability community to co-design the modules and develop a strategic training plan.

3-Day Foundational Safeguarding Workshop

A three-day foundational safeguarding course for professionals, covering how to recognise abuse, uphold rights, and create safety plans through interactive, culturally grounded learning.

A full-day refresher for professionals to strengthen safeguarding practice, update knowledge, and apply real-life case examples to protect the rights and safety of disabled adults.

Child to Parent Violence and Abuse
(CPVA) modules

An Introduction to Child to Parent Violence and Abuse (CPVA)

A 2-hour introductory training for professionals who may encounter CPVA in their work, to understand child-to-parent violence and abuse, its impacts, and ways to support whānau.

A full-day interactive training for professionals to develop skills in CPVA risk assessment and safety planning, building on the introductory training foundations.

Supporting Neurodivergent Families/Whānau Experiencing CPVA Through a Trauma Informed Lens

This is a 2.5-hour training presented online or face to face for professionals who may encounter CPVA in their work.

The training draws on international and New Zealand data and uses anonymised examples of family and whānau experiences of CPVA.
